Tasha is just one of the sweetest little velcro dogs you'll ever meet in your life. I call her my Hobbit dog -- she's not all that big but has a barrel chest and the most adorable little face. Is very happy just to sleep next to you all day long. She's great with other dogs but it's really YOU that she needs in her life! Tasha was rescued from a puppy mill in North Mississippi along with three other bassets. (See JJ, Mercy and Maybelle.) The four dogs were living in a miserable mud pen outdoors in all weather and each female was cranking out puppies twice a year. They never got belly rubs or toys or a warm place to sleep by the fireplace. They got mud holes, cheap dogfood and minimal medical care. When their owner died, his wife didn't want to take care of her husband's dogs. It was such a long walk out to that pen. So the bassets' medical care lapsed, as did their daily meals. They got hungrier and hungrier. Finally BRBR stepped in and pulled these dogs out of their hellish mudhole. Tasha ended up in a loving foster home in South Knoxville that she shares with a slew of Greyhound foster siblings and a basset sibling or three. She is a cuddly girl who likes to follow her foster mom everywhere. Tasha sleeps in her foster mom's office while she works because she likes to be close. What Tasha doesn't like is going outside. Now that she is finally a housedog, she doesn't want to risk getting stuck outdoors for years like she in her last life. Tasha is about 6 years old. She would be perfect in a home that wants a low-energy dog who can be exercised with leash walks. Tasha doesn't need a big, fenced yard. She needs a daily walk, and a sofa to sit on.
