Roxanne

Roxanne has received a Virtual Belly Rub in memory of "Handsome" Big Buster Bennett, her dear foster brother.

Roxy is a sweet, loving basset who is learning what it's like to be a beloved member of the family instead of a piece of inventory. You see, her last owner used her to produce 6 litters of puppies in about 5 years. When 6 of the 11 pups in Roxanne's last litter died, he figured she was past her prime and no longer worth feeding. So he dumped this pretty basset in the Dyersburg, Tenn., animal shelter. Before he left he mentioned that he had hit Roxy with sticks to get her puppies away from her so he could sell them. Nice guy. Roxy is frightened of men (understandably) but getting better. And she loves loves loves her foster mom, following her from room to room. She walks well on a leash and has learned to play with the other dogs in her foster home. She has even learned how to play with toys. She needs someone with a loving, patient touch with abused dogs.
